Research Trends of Play Therapy in Korea -Focused on Published Papers in Domestic Journal (2000-2010)

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to better understand the research trends, directions and conditions of play therapy by analyzing published papers in domestic journals. A total of 271 published articles were categorized according to the purposes of the studies into the following types: by published years, research contents, research subjects, and research methods by using descriptive statistics, and the research subject. The year of publication in the play therapy research journal published in association with all the trends were examined. Percentages and frequencies were used to analyze the tends. The results are listed below. First, according to the research trends of play according to the year of publication, the number of published papers is increasing every year, and it is also verified that the number of users has increased and the range of activities of researchers on play therapy has become both wider and more active. Second, the research topics related to parents(19.6%), improved communication and interpersonal relationships(15.5%), appeared as the subject and treatment techniques related to the U.S. The majority(30.3%) of papers were related to the most common therapeutic techniques. Third, the most common research subjects were infants(30.3%) and children(29.9%) The gender mix of male and female targets(47.6%) were most common, mainly carried out in group therapy, and studies into the nature of maladjustment(52.7%) were also the most common. Fourth, the research methods, in order of frequency of use were the case study(33.6%), and experimental studies(30.6%). In this study, the implications of these findings and suggestions for the development of play therapy are also discussed.
